Box Score North Andover, Mass.- Three different players found the back of the net to give Merrimack College a 3-0 win over the Le Moyne College men's soccer team on Saturday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at Martone-Mejail Field.
The Warriors scored the only goal they would need just over seven minutes into the contest. After Ryan Miller had his shot saved by senior goalkeeper Matthew Silva">Matthew Silva (Brampton, Ontario/St. Augustine), Augusto Silva charged in and drilled the rebound into the goal at the 7:15 mark for his fourth tally of the season.
Merrimack doubled its lead at the 20:01 mark after an illegal Le Moyne slide tackle in the penalty box led to a penalty kick. Francis Mulkern converted the penalty kick for his first goal of the campaign.
The Warriors netted their third goal of the half with just 21 seconds remaining in the stanza. After taking a pass from Oscar Zepeda Cagide, Ignacio Farias sent a cross into the box, where Alexander Alleyne snuck behind the Le Moyne defense and buried a shot into the lower right corner of the goal for his first marker of the year.
Matthew Silva registered four saves in dropping to 7-4 on the season. Jose Silva made four saves for the Warriors to improve to 8-3 on the season. Merrimack registered a 12-6 advantage in shots, while the Dolphins posted a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
Le Moyne (7-4, 5-3 NE-10), which has scored just two goals in its last five games (2-3 in the span), returns to the field on Wednesday at American International College at 7:00 p.m.
