MEN'S SOCCER DOWNED BY #10 SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE, 3-0

Box Score

Manchester, N.H. – 10th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University scored two first-half goals en route to a 3-0 win over the Le Moyne College men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play at Larkin Field.

Southern New Hampshire (14-1, 12-0 NE-10), which captured the outright Northeast-10 Conference regular season championship with the victory, tallied the only goal it would need in the 21st minute of play. Off a clear attempt by a Le Moyne defender, Miguel Carneiro collected the ball and drilled a shot through a crowd in front of the goal into the back of the net for his second goal of the campaign.

The Penmen, who have won 14 straight games since a season-opening loss to Post University, doubled their lead with just 50 seconds remaining. Joe Mahr (Fayetteville-Manlius) chipped a pass over the defense to Ryan Simpson, who buried a shot for his third tally of the year.

Southern New Hampshire completed the scoring in the contest with just over 29 minutes left. Pierre Omanga, the NE-10 Player of the Week three of the last four weeks, stole the ball from a Le Moyne player near midfield, carried the ball past two defenders and then blasted a shot into the left side of the goal for his NE-10-best 14t marker of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Matthew Silva">Matthew Silva (Brampton, Ontario/St. Augustine) registered four saves in taking the loss for the Dolphins. Dom DiMaggio (Rome Free Academy) stopped the only shot he faced (in the seventh minute) over 81:25 between the pipes to earn his 14th win. Eddie Legg did not face a shot over the final 8:35. Southern New Hampshire recorded a 14-6 advantage in shots, including 7-2 in the second half, while each team took two corner kicks.

Le Moyne (9-6, 6-5 NE-10), which went on to make the NCAA Semifinals after losing to the Penmen in Manchester, 3-0, during the 2009 regular season, wraps up its road schedule on Wednesday at The College of Saint Rose at 7:30 p.m. HamaHamsf
