WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO PACE, 71-54, IN SEASON FINALE

Syracuse, N.Y. – Margo Hackett scored 22 points to lead Pace University to a 71-54 win over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team on Tuesday night in the Northeast-10 Conference finale at Ted Grant Court.

Freshman forward Lauren Price (Humble, Texas/Atascocita) led the Dolphins in the setback with a career-high 17 points, 11 of which came in the first half, while grabbing a team high-tying four rebounds. Sophomore forward Emily Greer (Corry, Pa./Corry) tallied 13 points off the bench, while tying Price for team-high honors with four rebounds. Senior guard Torie Lee (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius), who was honored prior to the game by the Dolphin Athletic Association for her contributions to the program, scored 12 second-half points.

Hackett registered 12 of her game-high point total in the first half. Brittany Shields recorded a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while Jessica Scannell scored 11 points and had six steals.

Le Moyne (6-20, 4-18 NE-10) opened the game with six of the first eight points over the opening 3:03. Greer started the scoring with a lay-up, sophomore guard Alex Marple (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) followed with two free throws and then freshman forward Maggie Brown">Maggie Brown (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) made a jumper.

Pace responded with a 30-10 run over the next 11:36 to take its largest lead of the first half. Scannell registered nine points in the stretch and Hackett tallied eight points, while Shields scored six points. Price scored six of Le Moyne's 10 points, while Greer had the other four.

Price made a three-pointer and a jumper to pull the Dolphins within 11 with 4:11 left in the half, but the Setters scored six of the last nine points to take a 38-24 lead at halftime. Hackett had four of the points, while Shields added a lay-up.

After Greer and Hackett traded three-pointers to start the second half, the Dolphins scored eight straight points to cut their deficit to six with 16:47 left. Greer and Price each had four points in the run.

Following a 7-2 spurt by the Setters to push their lead back to 11 with 14:10 to play, the Dolphins scored seven consecutive points to pull within four with 10:45 left, but could not get any closer. Lee had all seven points on a three-pointer, a lay-up and a two free throws.

The Setters countered with six straight points to extend their lead to 10 and never led by less than eight the remainder of the game. Brianna Harris started the push with a lay-up, Rachel Dortch followed with two free throws and then Scannell made a jumper.

Following seven points from each team over the next 5:18, the Setters closed out the game with eight free throws and a jumper. Hackett made four of the free throws, Shields converted two and Yuni Sher made two, while Allison Cleary made the jump shot.
