Onset, Mass. – The Le Moyne College men's golf team opened the Spring season with a seventh-place finish at Bentley University's Cape Cod Classic on Friday and Saturday at the par-70, 6201-yard Bay Pointe Club.
American International College won the team competition with a 608 on rounds of 296 (the best of the tournament) and 312. The host Falcons placed second with a score of 614 after posting rounds of 301 and 313. UMass Lowell registered rounds of 304 and 311 to finish in third place with a 615. Holy Cross placed fourth with a 620 (307-313), while Saint Anselm totaled a 632 (319-313) to round out the top five. Sylvain Debiais from UMass Lowell claimed medalist honors with a seven-over par 147 after rounds of 73 and 74.
Sophomore Dan Molter (Port Crane, N.Y./Chenango Forks) led the Dolphins over the two days by placing in a tie for 14th with a 156. He carded a 74 to land in a tie for sixth after the first round and then posted an 82 in the second round. Freshman Aidan Fuller (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) finished in a tie for 23rd place at 161 after rounds of 81 and 89. Sophomore Mitch Hillegas (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) placed in a tie for 29th with a two-day score of 166 off rounds of 80 and 86. Sophomore Sam Eno (Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) recorded a 169 on rounds of 86 and 83 to place in a tie for 34th, while freshman Alex Kinkaid (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) finished 37th with a 170 after rounds of 80 and 90.
Le Moyne returns to action on Friday at Dowling College's Peter King Memorial at Long Island National.
