MEN'S SOCCER OPENS NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE PLAY WITH 4-0 WIN AT SAINT MICHAEL'S

Box Score

Colchester, Vt. – The Le Moyne College men's soccer team scored twice in the opening five minutes en route to a 4-0 win over Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both teams at Duffy Field.

The Dolphins scored the only goal they would need just over one minute into the contest. Following a corner kick by junior back Cal Filtch (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus), senior midfielder Zachary MacNabb (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/UNC Pembroke) had his shot blocked. The ball bounced to senior forward Emmanuel Chanelo (Syracuse, N.Y./Corcoran), who fired the ball into the back of the net for his second goal of the season.

Just over four minutes later, the Dolphins were awarded a penalty kick. Purple Knights goalkeeper Nicco Roque saved the penalty kick and the ensuing rebound shot by Chanelo, but then a Saint Michael's player knocked the ricochet into the net for a 2-0 Le Moyne lead just 5:07 into the game.

Following 37 minutes of scoreless play, senior forward Michael Spadine (Owego, N.Y./Owego Free Academy), who was making his season debut, collected a loose ball off a long feed and deposited the ball into the back of the net for his 20th career goal.

Le Moyne finished off the game's scoring in the 73rd minute as junior midfielder Jaime Carolissen (Cape Town, South Africa/Chesterhouse/Cayuga C.C.) converted a penalty kick for his second goal of the campaign.

Senior goalkeeper Matthew Silva">Matthew Silva (Brampton, Ontario/St. Augustine) made two saves to earn his second straight shutout between the pipes. The shutout gives Silva 20 for his career, the second-most in the program's history. Roque took the loss after giving up the three first-half goals, while making five saves. The Dolphins registered a 20-5 advantage in shots, including a 13-3 mark in the first half, while taking 13 of the game's 16 corner kicks.

Le Moyne (2-1, 1-0 NE-10), which has scored at least three goals in back-to-back games for the first time since October 26 and 30, 2010, opens a four-game homestand on Tuesday against Roberts Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m.
