Danbury, Conn. – Le Moyne College freshman goalkeeper
Ben Beaury (Cohoes, N.Y./LaSalle Institute) has been named the Corvias ECAC men's soccer Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Beaury, honored as the defensive player of the week for the fourth time this season (Sept. 10, Oct. 1 and Oct. 14) and as the rookie of the week for the first time, registered a 0.46 goals against average and 11 saves to lead the Dolphins to a pair of Northeast-10 victories last week. He opened the week by making six saves in a 2-1 win at Assumption College on Wednesday night. He then recorded five saves, including four in the second half and overtime, in shutting out top-ranked and previously unbeaten Southern New Hampshire University for the first time in 36 conference games in a 1-0 double-overtime victory on Saturday afternoon. After recording his fifth save of the contest on a header off a throw-in, the Dolphins netted the game-winning goal 20 seconds later on the counterattack.
Through 15 games and 1402:55 between the pipes, Beaury is 11-4 with a 0.64 goals against average, 50 saves, a 0.833 save percentage and eight shutouts. He leads the conference in shutouts and save percentage, while his goals against average ranks second. Beaury, who became just the third Le Moyne goalkeeper to register a shutout in 24 all-time games against the Penmen (all in the last eight years), has the most wins by a Le Moyne freshman in the program's history, while his eight shutouts are tied for the third-most. In 11 conference games, he has a 0.86 goals against average (third in the NE-10), a 0.818 save percentage (third) and posted four shutouts (tied for first).
Le Moyne (11-4, 7-4 NE-10), which clinched a Northeast-10 Conference Championships berth with the win on Saturday, closes out its home schedule on Tuesday against The College of Saint Rose at 3:00 p.m.
