Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team wrapped up its fall season home slate on Sunday with a 7-2 win over Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
The Dolphins opened the match by winning two of the three doubles matches. At the second spot, sophomore
Christina Perry (Endwell, N.Y./Seton Catholic) and senior
Jessica Geary (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) teamed for a 9-8 (7-5) victory over Kate Martin and Meghan Golden. Seniors
Dominique Canale (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego/Arcadia) and
Margaret LaFleur (Darien Center, N.Y./Attica) combined for an 8-3 win at third doubles over April Regan and Katie Roberts. At first doubles, Jess Perkins and Ashley Sulkin recorded an 8-2 win over freshmen
Rithika Vajjiravelu (Chennai, Tamil Nadu/Kendriya Vidyalaya) and
Amica Benoit-Limosani (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec/Collège Saint-Maurice) to pick up Saint Anselm's first point.
In singles play, Benoit-Limosani was victorious at the second spot, 6-1, 6-1, over Golden to improve to 6-2 in conference action. Canale registered scores of 6-2 and 6-0 to defeat Martin at third singles for her fourth win of the campaign. Perry tallied her team-best fourth consecutive victory by topping Kathryn Rindo at the fourth spot, 6-0, 6-1. Geary earned her career-best sixth win by recording a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Sulkin at fifth singles. Freshman
Autumn Hogan (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) earned her third straight win, 6-2, 6-4, at sixth singles over Leah Fitzgerald. Perkins earned the second point of the day for the Hawks at the top spot with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Vajjiravelu.
Le Moyne (6-6, 5-4 NE-10), which enters its final week of the season tied for sixth place in the Northeast-10 Conference standings, is back on the courts on Wednesday at the University of New Haven at 3:30 p.m.
