Rithika Vajjiravelu (Chennai, Tamil Nadu/Kendriya Vidyalaya) and
Amica Benoit-Limosani (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec/Collège Saint-Maurice) each won in singles action and teamed for a doubles victory to lead the Le Moyne College women's tennis team to a 6-3 win over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Sunday afternoon at the Bentley Tennis Courts.
The Dolphins opened the match by sweeping the three doubles matches. Vajjiravelu and Benoit-Limosani were victorious for the first time at the top spot over Ludmila Yamus and Catherine Gianino, 8-3. Sophomore
Christina Perry (Endwell, N.Y./Seton Catholic) and senior
Jessica Geary (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) registered their first win of the season, 8-6, over Brittani Hetyei and Rachel Petrini at second doubles. Seniors
Dominique Canale (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego/Arcadia) and
Margaret LaFleur (Darien Center, N.Y./Attica) improved to 2-2 at third doubles with an 8-5 win over Melanie Scott and Olivia von Oldenburg.
The Dolphins split the six singles matches to earn their first win over the Falcons in over nine years. Vajjiravelu recorded her second win of the weekend at first singles with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Yamus, while Benoit-Limosani topped Gianino in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 10-7. Geary earned her first win of the campaign by defeating Scott, 7-5, 6-2, at fifth singles to round out Le Moyne's wins. At third singles, Hetyei was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Perry, while Petrini registered a 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 victory over Canale at the fourth spot. Le Moyne (2-2, 1-1 NE-10), which had dropped at least 11 straight matches to the Falcons, including a pair of match-ups in the Northeast-10 Championships, completes its three-match road trip at Adelphi University on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
