Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team stayed alive in its hunt for a Northeast-10 Conference Championships berth with a 5-4 victory over Bentley University on Sunday afternoon at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
The Falcons took a 2-1 lead in the match through the doubles competition. Le Moyne earned its point at the top spot as freshman
Tiffany Dun (Templestowe, Victoria/Doncaster Secondary College) and sophomore
Amica Benoit-Limosani (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec/Collège Saint-Maurice) registered an 8-6 win over Ludmila Yamus and Rachel Petrini. Catherine Gianino and Brittani Hetyei were victorious at second doubles, 9-8, over junior
Christina Perry (Endwell, N.Y./Seton Catholic) and senior
Allison Jones (Utica, N.Y./Notre Dame). At the third spot, Hannah Fabianski and Corrie MacLean posted an 8-6 win over sophomores
Rithika Vajjiravelu (Chennai, Tamil Nadu/ Kendriya Vidyalaya) and
Autumn Hogan (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute).
Le Moyne swept the first four singles matches to capture the match. Dun registered her third straight victory by defeating Yamus at the top spot, 6-4, 6-3. Benoit-Limosani tallied her ninth win of the season by posting a 6-0, 6-3 victory at second singles over Gianino. Vajjiravelu earned her eighth victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Hetyei at the third position. Perry picked up her 20th career win by recording a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the fourth spot over Petrini. Fabianski topped Jones at the fifth spot, 7-6, 6-3, while Stowe edged Hogan at sixth singles, 3-6, 6-2, 10-2.
Le Moyne (7-4, 6-4 NE-10), which is currently tied for third in the conference in wins with six, plays its final non-conference match of the season on Thursday against New York Tech at 2:00 p.m. at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
