Mansfield, Mass. – Le Moyne College redshirt senior midfielder
Cal Filtch (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) and senior back
Jack Ball (Sunbury, Middlesex/Bishop Wand/Bryant & Stratton) have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Soccer All-Conference teams, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
Filtch, honored by the conference for the second time in his career after earning second team honors as a junior, was one of four midfielders selected to the All-Conference First Team. A starter in all 17 games played, Filtch has tallied 31 points on eight goals and 15 assists. He leads the Northeast-10 in points and assists, while he ranks in a tie for seventh in goals scored. Additionally, his assist total, which is the most by a Dolphin in the program's history, is tied for the second-most in Division II. His 15 assists are the most in the Northeast-10 Conference since Bentley's Luis-Carlos Jimenez registered 16 during the 1997 season and are the seventh-most in the 36-year history of the conference. Filtch tallied at least one point in 12 of the team's 17 games, including at least one assist in nine contests and at least one goal in six games. After not having been accomplished by any Dolphins over the last 13 seasons, he recorded three assists in a single game on three separate occasions (Saint Anselm, Saint Michael's and Franklin Pierce). He also posted a pair of goals in two games. Four of his eight goals were game-winners, the highest total on the team. From September 16 through October 7, Filtch was part of 11 straight Le Moyne goals (3 goals, 8 assists) over seven games. In the team's 13 conference games, he registered 24 points on five goals and 14 assists. His 24 points and 14 assists led the league, with his assist total being almost double the next closest player.
Ball, in his first season with the Dolphins after two years at Bryant & Stratton, earned one of four spots on the All-Conference Second Team. A starter along the backline in all 17 games, he finished the regular season second on the team in points and goals with 14 and seven, respectively. His seven goals are tied for the 11th-most in the NE-10. His goal total is the highest by a Le Moyne defender since fellow Bryant & Stratton alum Richard Shaw netted eight goals during the 2004 season. He tallied the game-winning goal in a pair of contests. In conference action, he netted six of his goals, the highest total on the team. His six goals tied for the fifth-most in the conference. He also anchored a defense that allowed just 0.97 goals per game, the fourth-best average in the conference.
Le Moyne (12-5-1) fell to Adelphi in the first round of the Northeast-10 Championship on Tuesday evening and now awaits word on a berth in the NCAA Championships. The Dolphins are ranked sixth in this week's NCAA East Region rankings. The six-team field for the East Region will be announced on NCAA.com on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
