Easton, Mass. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 9-0 loss at Stonehill College on Saturday afternoon at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts.
The Dolphins and Skyhawks square off again on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships. The Skyhawks are the third seed, while the Dolphins are seeded sixth.
In doubles action, Thomas Bellio and Nikolay Lisichenok registered an 8-5 win at the top spot over sophomores
James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and
Benjamin Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa). Tom Alaimo and Jon Sanders posted an 8-2 win over freshman
Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds) and sophomore
Steve Procopio (LEM) at the second spot, while Jared Drzal and Tom Buckley were 8-1 winners at the third spot over redshirt junior
Stephane Legris (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury/Adirondack C.C.) and sophomore
Adam Celata (Hamilton, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham Regional).
In singles play, Gayvert had the closest match of the afternoon as he was edged by Bellio, 6-4, 7-5. Alaimo and Lisichenok posted 6-1, 6-1 wins over Doney and Spoor, respectively, at the second and third spots. Sanders registered a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Legris at the fourth spot, while Philip Klados topped Procopio, 6-3, 6-2. Eric Ringstad recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win over Celata at sixth singles.
