Williamstown, Mass. – Freshman
Lauren Kase (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) registered her third top-10 finish of the season to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the Williams College Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the par-71, 5819-yard Taconic Golf Club.
The host Ephs won the team championship with a two-day score of 612 following rounds of 310 and 302. Amherst College finished in second place with rounds of 318 and 307 for a 625, while New York University was one shot back in third with a 626 off rounds of 318 and 308. Middlebury College tallied scores of 315 and 326 to finish in fourth place with a 641. The Dolphins carded a 673 to place fifth off rounds of 335 and 338. Cordelia Chan from Williams earned medalist honors with a six-over par 148 following back-to-back three-over par rounds of 74.
Kase, who is the first Dolphin in the program's history to record a scoring average in the 70s (79.7), finished in a four-way tie for ninth place with a 158 off consecutive rounds of 79. Classmate
Bianca Cruz-Hernandez (Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary) tied for 28th place with a 36-hole score of 166 after posting scores of 82 and 84. Senior
Kayla Burt (Williamsville, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart), junior
Ashley Mayse (Cecilton, Md./Bohemia Manor) and sophomore
Katherine Walsh (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) all tied for 51st place with a 177. Burt and Walsh each posted rounds of 87 and 90, while Mayse tallied a 92 and an 85.
The Dolphins close out the Fall season on Saturday and Sunday at the Nazareth College Fall Classic. Saturday's round will be played at Irondequoit Country Club and Sunday's round will be played at Monroe Golf Club.
