North East, Pa. – Freshman
Lauren Kase (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) tied for fourth place to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the lightning-shortened Evann Parker Invitational hosted by Mercyhurst University at the par-72, 5806-yard Lake View Country Club on Friday afternoon. The invitational was supposed to conclude on Saturday, but the second round was unable to be completed due to lightning.
Gannon University claimed the team championship after registering a score of 320 on Friday. Kutztown University finished in second place with a 326, while the host Lakers edged the Dolphins for third place with a 333. Le Moyne's fourth-place score of 334 was five shots ahead of fifth-place SUNY Cortland and is the fifth-best score in the program's history. Gannon's Diana Munoz claimed the individual title by two shots with a two-over par 74.
In her first collegiate round, Kase finished in a tie for fourth place after recording a round of 78, the best season-opening round in the program's history and tied for the third-best round carded by a Dolphin. Sophomore
Katherine Walsh (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) tallied an 82 – the fourth-best round of her career – to land in a tie for 11th place. Senior
Kayla Burt (Williamsville, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) finished in a four-way tie for 30th place with an 86, her best score in six rounds at the Evann Parker Invitational. Junior
Ashley Mayse (Cecilton, Md./Bohemia Manor) tied for 37th place with an 88, her top score in four rounds at the invitational. Freshman
Bianca Cruz-Hernandez (Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary) rounded out Le Moyne's competitors with a 90 to finish in a seven-way tie for 45th place.
The Dolphins are back on the links on Sunday and Monday at Gannon's Michael Corbett Fall Classic at Lake Shore Country Club in Erie, Pa.
