WALSH SETS PROGRAM RECORD AS WOMEN’S GOLF TIES FOR THIRD AT LE MOYNE FALL INVITATIONAL

Jamesville, N.Y. – Sophomore Katherine Walsh (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) set the program's single-round record to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a tie for third place at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational on Sunday and Monday at the par-72, 6275-yard The Pompey Club.

Gannon University captured the team championship for the third straight event with a 36-hole score of 610 after posting rounds of 307 and 303. Kutztown University jumped into second place with a 312 on Monday to finish at 641 after a 329 on Sunday. Le Moyne tied for third place with West Chester University with a program-record 644. The Dolphins recorded rounds of 325 and 319, while the Golden Rams posted rounds of 326 and 318. Le Moyne's previous best two-round total was 653, which was set September 19 and 20, 2015 at the Lady Penmen Invitational and equaled last week at Gannon. The College of Saint Rose placed fifth with a 686 (354-332). Gannon's Manuela Quevedo (78-72) defeated West Chester's Taylor Daskivich (76-74) on the first playoff hole after tying for first place with a 150.

Walsh finished in a five-way tie for sixth place with a two-day score of 157, which is tied for the second-best score in the program's history. After carding an 83 in the first round to tie for 14th place, she fired a program-best round of 74 on Monday to jump eight spots in the standings. The 74 eclipses the previous best round of 75 carded by Emily Stickel '16 on September 19, 2015 at the Lady Penmen Invitational. Freshman Bianca Cruz-Hernandez (Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary) was also part of the tie for sixth place at 157. She opened with an 80 and then on Monday turned in a 77, which is tied for the third-best score in the program's history and is tied for the best by a freshman. Junior Ashley Mayse (Cecilton, Md./Bohemia Manor) tied for 15th place with a 163 off rounds of 80 and 83. Senior Kayla Burt (Williamsville, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) and freshman Lauren Kase (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) tied for 22nd place with a score of 168. Burt registered rounds of 82 and 86, while Kase recorded scores of 83 and 85.

The Dolphins return to action on Sunday and Monday at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship at Bretwood Golf Course in Keene, N.H.
