Lauren Kase (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) tied for 14th place to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the Battle at the Bay hosted by Eastern University on Sunday and Monday at the par-71, 5824-yard Chesapeake Bay Golf Club.
Gannon University posted a 324 on the second day to rally from a six-shot first round deficit to claim the team title with a two-day score of 654. Franklin Pierce University finished in second place with a 659 after turning in a day one-best score of 324 and a 335. Randolph-Macon placed third with a 678 off rounds of 343 and 335, while Kutztown University came in fourth with a 686 after scores of 351 and 335. The Dolphins recorded a 693 to place fifth after carding a 344 in the first round and a 349 on Monday. Gannon's Manuela Quevedo earned medalist honors with a 158 off rounds of 75 and 83.
Kase tied for 14th-place with a 36-hole score of 169. She carded an 83 in the first round to land in a four-way tie for ninth place and then posted an 86 in the second round. Senior
Kayla Burt (Williamsville, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) finished in a four-way tie for 18th place with a score of 171. She opened with an 84 and recorded an 87 on day two. Freshman
Bianca Cruz-Hernandez (Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary) registered a 175 to finish as part of a four-way tie for 23rd place. She posted an 88 in the first round and followed up with an 87 on Monday. Junior
Ashley Mayse (Cecilton, Md./Bohemia Manor), who was playing about 30 miles from her hometown, placed in a three-way tie for 30th with an 178 off back-to-back rounds of 89. Sophomore
Katherine Walsh (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) registered rounds of 93 and 89 to place 40th with a 182.
The Dolphins are back on the links at West Chester University's Dr. Edwin Cottrell Invitational on Sunday, April 9 and Monday, April 10 at Penn Oaks Golf Club in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
