John Clare (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) finished in third place to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to a second-place finish at the 54th Annual Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Sunday and Monday at the par-71, 6574-yard Indiana Country Club.
West Liberty University rallied from an eight-stroke deficit to capture the team championship with a two-day score of 600. West Liberty posted a 310 in the first round to tie for third place and jumped to the top of the leaderboard with a six-over par 290 on Monday. Le Moyne finished one shot back with a 601. The Dolphins held the day-one lead after recording a 302 on Sunday and followed with a 299 (the second-best score of the invitational) in the second round. Charleston placed third with a 611 off rounds of 312 and 299. California (Pa.) and Indiana (Pa.) tied for fourth place at 612. California posted scores of 310 and 302, while Indiana turned in scores of 309 and 303.
The Dolphins will honor Clare and classmate
Troy Garbinski (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) for their contribution to the program on Sunday following a play day with The College of Saint Rose at Lake Shore Yacht and Country Club.
