Miami Beach, Fla. – Senior
Joe Petrin (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) tied for 43rd-place to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team at The Battle at the Shores hosted by Barry University on Monday and Tuesday at the par-71, 6733-yard Normandy Shores Golf Club.
Florida Southern College, the defending national champion, won the team championship with a 13-under par 839 after rounds of 275, 283 and 281. Lynn University, last year's national runner-up, was one shot back with a 12-under par 840 off three consecutive rounds of 280. Nova Southern University finished third with a nine-under par 843 following rounds of 276, 288 and 279. The Dolphins recorded rounds of 314, 311 and 305 to finish with a score of 930 and a 17th-place finish.
Petrin finished in a three-way tie for 43rd place with a 54-hole score of 225. He opened the event with a 75 to land in a 12-way tie for 44th place. He dipped into a five-way tie for 56th after carding a 76 in the second round. He jumped 13 spots on the final day into the tie for 43rd with a 74.
Senior
Daniel Thomas (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) and sophomore
Nicholas Barney (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal) placed in a three-way tie for 68th with a three-round score of 234. Thomas turned in a 77 in the first round to place in a seven-way tie for 59th place. After placing in a three-way tie for 71st following an 80 in the second round, he moved up three places with another 77 on Tuesday.
Barney tallied an 81 in the first round to land in a six-way tie for 78th and followed with a 77 in Monday's afternoon session to climb into a tie for 74th. Barney posted a 76 in the third round to jump six spots on the final leaderboard.
Senior
Jake Eno (Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) placed 79th with a 239. After opening with an 83 on Monday morning, he turned in a 78 in the afternoon to tie for 80th place. He posted another 78 on Tuesday to move up a spot.
Sophomore
Jonathan Petrin (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) turned in a 247 off rounds of 81, 83 and 83.
The Dolphins are back on the link on Monday and Tuesday at Villanova's Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club in Villanova, Pennsylvania.
