New Haven, Conn. – Senior
Sean Beney (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) earned the first NE10 victory in the program's history to lead the Le Moyne College men's track and field team to a 10th-place finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday at Southern Connecticut State University. The women's team finished in 12th place.
Beney, who advanced to the cross country national championships back in November, won the 10,000-meter run by over 40 seconds with a time of 31:53.49 for the first conference championship in the program's history. He had the previous-best finish by placing second in the event last year. On Saturday, Beney placed sixth in the 5,000-meter run in 15:21.36 to finish the championship with 13 points, one shy of the program's record.
Sophomore
Chris Davitt (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) earned five points in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by registering a fourth-place finish in 9:38.54. He also placed 12th in the 1,500-meter run in 4:02.18.
Senior
Elliot Hernandez (Boonville, N.Y./Adirondack) registered a seventh-place finish in the javelin throw with a program-record distance of 172-feet, 3-inches.
Davitt teamed with juniors
Griffin Klein (Fair Haven, N.Y./Red Creek) and
Mahamadou Jagana (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton) and sophomore
Christian Davis (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) to place seventh in the 4x800-meter relay in 8:06.38.
Senior
Matthew Civilette (Fredonia, N.Y./Fredonia) placed in the top-11 in each of the horizontal jumping events. He placed 11th in the long jump with a leap of 21-feet, 0.50-inch on Friday. He then finished 10th in the triple jump on Saturday with a distance of 42-feet, 3.50-inches.
On the women's side, the quartet of juniors
Bethia Nivens (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) and
Brittney Mack (Poestenkill, N.Y./Averill Park), sophomore
Jordan Sloan (Central Square, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) and freshman
Haleigh Pascual (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) finished in third place in the 4x800-meter relay to earn six points with a time of 9:37.76.
Freshman
Eva Keohane (Brewerton, N.Y./Central Square) registered the best individual finish in the women's program's history by placing fourth in the 5,000-meter run in 18:48.03.
Nivens recorded a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash in a program-record 58.68 seconds to earn two points.
Mack tallied a ninth-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:20.59.
Sophomore
Mya Walters (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) finished 10th in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a career-best 12:35.45.
