Norman, Okla. – Three members of the Le Moyne College men's golf team earned Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division II PING All-Region honors, as announced recently by the association.
Sophomore
Nicholas Bove (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) and freshmen
Spencer Baum (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) and
Tyler Birdd (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) were each recognized.
Bove, who was also named to the all-region team as a freshman, led the Dolphins with a 75.3 scoring average over 13 rounds at seven events. A Northeast-10 Conference First Team selection, he recorded scores of par or better in three rounds, including a team-best round of 67 to win the SUNY Delhi Spring Invitational by five strokes on April 17. He followed that performance up by winning the Northeast-10 Conference Championship on April 20 with a 36-hole score of three-over par 147 to win by one shot. In addition to his two victories, he tied for second at the Bentley Spring Invitational on April 6 and tied for sixth at Le Moyne's Mike Bello Invitational on April 12.
Birdd finished second on the team with a 76.0 scoring average over 11 rounds at six events. An NE10 Third Team selection, he opened his career by tying three others for the lowest round of the event, a one-over par 72, at a tri-match with Assumption and Bentley. He finished in second place among 45 competitors with an even-par 144 at the Mike Bello Invitational with rounds of 76 and a four-under par 68, the second-best score by a Dolphin this season.
Baum was fourth on the team with a 77.7 scoring average over 13 rounds at seven events. An NE10 Third Team honoree, he finished in the top-10 at four of the seven events. He tied for seventh place among 39 participants at the Bentley Spring Invitational on April 6. He finished in third place at the NE10 Championship with a 150.
The Dolphins finished in the top-three at four of six invitationals, including wins at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship and the SUNY Delhi Spring Invitational. They placed second at the Mike Bello Invitational and third at the Saint Rose Invitational.
