MEN’S GOLF WINS POST EAGLES INVITATIONAL AS BOVE CLAIMS MEDALIST HONORS

Watertown, Conn. – Senior Nicholas Bove (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) earned medalist honors to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to a victory at the Post University Eagles Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the par-71, 6603-yard Watertown Golf Club.
 
The Dolphins, who also won the Eagles Invitational in 2018, registered a three-round score of 876 to tie for first place with the host Eagles. The teams then played a playoff on the first hole. The Dolphins claimed the championship with an eagle and four birdies to defeat Post. The Dolphins opened the invitational with a 294 to land in a tie for second place. They took over sole possession of second with a four-over par 288 as all four scorers carded a one-over par 72. The Dolphins moved into the tie for first with another 294 in the third round.

Post earned its share of first place with an invitational-best 283 in Monday's morning round, a 292 on Monday afternoon and then a 301 in the third round. St. Thomas Aquinas College placed third with an 884 off rounds of 294, 289 and 301.

Bove earned medalist honors by two shots with a career-best four-under par 209 over the 54 holes. He opened with a season-best three-under par 68, which included four birdies and 13 pars, to land in a tie for second place. He followed with a one-over par 72, including three birdies and 11 pars, in the second round to dip into third place. He tallied a two-under par 69, which included six birdies and nine pars, on Tuesday to jump to the top of the leaderboard. He led the 81-member field in birdies with 13. He tied for second on the par-4s at even par and par-5s at five-under, while tying for fourth on the par-3s at one-over.

Junior Tyler Birdd (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) registered a 219 to finish in a five-way tie for 10th place. He carded a 72, which included four birdies and nine pars, in the first round to land in a six-way tie for eighth place. He followed with two birdies and 13 pars en route to another 72 in the second round to move into a three-way tie for seventh. He closed out the invitational with a 75 to slip into the tie for 10th.

Senior Luke Barney (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal) tied for 20th place with a career-best 224. He tallied a 77 in the first round to land in a nine-way tie for 37th place. He moved into a five-way tie for 28th place with a 73 in the second round. He climbed another eight spots with a 74 in the third round to land in the three-way tie for 20th. He tied for the sixth-most birdies of the invitational with 10.

Freshman Anthony Maglisco (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) registered a career-best 227 to finish in a tie for 29th place. He was in a six-way tie for 55th place after a 79 in the first round. He tallied a career-best 72 on Monday afternoon to vault into a six-way tie for 33rd. He jumped another four spots on Tuesday with a 76.

Sophomore Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) finished in a tie for 38th place with a 231. He opened with a 77 in the first round to land in a nine-way tie for 37th place. He then carded a one-over par 72 on Monday afternoon to move up to a five-way tie for 23rd place. He dipped into a five-way tie for 38th with an 82 in the final round.

The Dolphins are back in action at Long Island University's Nassau Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y.
