MEN’S AND WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD TEAM WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON AT CORNELL

2/19/2022 9:10:00 PM

Ithaca, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's indoor track and field teams closed out the regular season on Saturday at the non-scoring Marc Deneault Invitational hosted by Cornell University at Barton Hall.

"I was very pleased with the Cornell meet," said head coach Robin Wheeless. "It was an excellent tuneup for our Conference Championship meet next week. We had lots of season's best times. We also had 3 school records: Grace Kitterman tied her teammate Shaina Smith for the school record in the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Brandon Scott broke the school record in the 300-meter dash and Nick Hafner set the record for the 60-meter hurdles. Christian Carlin-Saracene won the 600, just missing the school record and Nick Hafner missed the high jump record by one centimeter. At our championship I'm hoping we set a few more records. Kenny Barrett is looking for a school record in the 800 and Julianna Szczech is primed to break her own record in the pole vault. It should be a couple of exciting days."

Junior Cleo Baker (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) placed third in the 600-meter run in 1:45.78.

Freshman Natalie Lavello (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) finished fourth in the 300-meter dash in 44.56 seconds.

Junior Catherine Durant (Arverne, N.Y./Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School) tallied a fifth-place finish in the 600-meter run in 1:51.83.

Junior Cayla Hungerford (Petersburgh, N.Y./New Lebanon) placed sixth in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:34.90.

Freshman Hilda Kiprono (Eldoret, Kenya/Kapsabet Girls High School) recorded a sixth-place finish in the 1000-meter run in 3:22.68.

Redshirt freshman Grace Kitterman (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) registered a time of 10.14 seconds to place seventh in the 60-meter hurdles after posting a time of 9.92 seconds in the prelims to tie the program record.

Redshirt sophomore Amanda Winn (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) placed seventh in the 1000-meter run in 3:30.77.

Redshirt junior Mallory DiFelice (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) placed seventh in the 60-meter dash in 8.07 seconds.

The quartet of Baker, Lavello, DiFelice and junior Shaina Smith (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) posted a fifth-place in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:19.46.

On the men's side, Junior Christian Carlin-Saracene (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) won the 600-meter run in 1:24.47.

Junior Nolan Hillhouse (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 42-feet, 2.25-inches.

Junior Nicholas Hafner (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) cleared the bar at 6-feet, 1.5-inches, the second-best in the program's history, to place fifth in the high jump. He also placed 11th in the 60-meter hurdles in a program-record time of 8.92 seconds.

Freshman Brandon Scott (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) registered a program-best time of 37.27 seconds to place sixth in the 300-meter dash.

Senior David Ware (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/St. John Fisher) finished eighth in the 1000-meter run in 2:46.55.

The Dolphins return to action on Thursday for the first day of the two-day Northeast-10 Conference Championships.
