Fairfax, Va. – Select members of the Le Moyne College men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed at the 2025 ECAC/IC4A Championships both Saturday and Sunday.
"Jack and Jacey put Le Moyne on the scoreboard at the 148
th IC4A and the 49
th ECAC Championships," said assistant coach
Marie Grasso.
Day One:
Due to weather conditions, the throwing events that were scheduled to take place on Friday were moved to Saturday morning, making Saturday the first day of the championships. The Dolphins had three members compete in various events throughout the day.
Freshman
Christopher Zajdel (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) was the first 'Phin to compete, as the 400m dash took place at roughly 4:05 P.M. Zajdel earned himself a 13
th place finish out of 35 participants after running a time of 48.84, just 0.05 seconds of his season-best.
Freshman
Jacey Locci (Stillwater, N.Y./Stillwater) was the next Dolphin to compete as the high jump event began around 5:00 P.M. Locci tied for 8
th place after completing a successful jump of 5-feet, 4.5-inches. She fell just short of completing what would be a program-best height of 5-feet, 6.5-inches, making for a promising future in this event.
Senior
Jack Gibson (Ilion, N.Y./Central Valley Academy) was the final contestant of the day for Le Moyne, competing in the 3000m steeplechase. His time of 9:12.18 earned himself a 2
nd place finish, a great way to end his influential career with the Dolphins.
Day Two:
Le Moyne had five individuals compete in day two of the ECAC/IC4A Championships, competing in the men's 400m hurdles as well as the men's 4x400m relay.
Beginning the day around 12:25 P.M., senior
Matthew Frisa (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) competed in the 400m hurdles, placing 10
th overall after clocking in with a time of 55.47.
The Dolphins concluded the day in the 4x400m relay, as the quartet of sophomore
Skylar Gravell (Malone, N.Y./Franklin Academy), sophomore
Christopher Moser (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee), senior
Brandon Scott (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee), and freshman
Christopher Zajdel (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) placed 8
th overall after earning a time of 3:18.64.
"Jacey had one of her best days of jumping this year, and ended up tying for 8
th place," said coach Grasso. "Jack followed up with a very controlled and tactical race to finish 2
nd in the 3000m steeplechase. He came into the event seeded 4
th, and was hoping to end up in the top-3, so he did just what he came to do."
Le Moyne found success in many ways throughout the 2024-25 campaign, setting countless personal bests and several program records during the year.
