MEN’S GOLF COMPETES AT BATTLE AT THE SHORES

Miami Shores, Fla. – The Le Moyne College men's golf team placed 15th at Barry University's Battle at the Shores on Monday and Tuesday at the par 71, 6733-yard Normandy Shores Golf Club.

The host Buccaneers, the top-ranked team in Division II, won the team championship by 14 strokes with a seven-under par total of 845 over the three rounds after posting scores of two-over 286, four-under 280 and five-under 279. Nova Southeastern, which is ranked 12th, placed second with an 859 off rounds of 290, three-under 281 and 288. Lynn University, which is 25th, finished third with a total of 871 following rounds of 294, three-under 281 and 296. The Dolphins carded a 303 in the first round, a 314 in the second round and a 317 on Tuesday for a 934.

Junior Nicholas Bove (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) led the Dolphins with a total of 230 off rounds of 75, 78 and 77 to place in a four-way tie for 63rd. Sophomore Tyler Birdd (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) tied for 67th following rounds of 75, 78 and 78 for a two-day total of 231. Freshman Johnny Gruninger (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) tallied a 233 to tie for 74th off rounds of 79, 78 and 76. Junior Luke Barney (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal) turned in rounds of 76, 80 and 86 to place in a tie for 84th with a 242. Sophomore Spencer Baum (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) rounded out the team's five competitors with a 245 after scores of 77, 82 and 86 to tie for 87th.

The Dolphins return to the links on Sunday and Monday at the NCAA Regional Preview at Ravenwood Golf Club, in Victor, N.Y.
