Syracuse, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College men's soccer team will begin the 2022 regular season on Thursday afternoon with a non-conference match at home against the Caldwell University Cougars, scheduled for 4:00 p.m. The Dolphins are coming off another 10-win season under head coach
Tom Bonus in 2021 and return 13 players from last year's team to go along with 11 newcomers.
Graduate goalkeeper
Josh Mahr (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) is back for the 'Phins after starting all 17 contests in net during the 2021 season, accumulating 59 saves and completing seven shutouts. Through three full seasons as a Dolphin, Mahr has recorded over 150 saves, seen over 4,500 minutes of action, and has kept a clean sheet in 16 total matches. The 6'2" keeper is a two-time Northeast-10 All-Conference selection.
Graduate midfielder
Tom Henne (Hamburg, Germany/Gymnasium Buckhorn) is also a two-time Northeast-10 All-Conference selection as a Dolphin after being named to the NE10 All-Conference Third Team in 2021. Henne will return in 2022 after starting 16 matches and playing over 1,100 minutes in the midfield for Le Moyne last season. During his redshirt-junior campaign last fall he scored two goals and delivered a team-best four assists.

Jack Goodrich (Kelsall, England/King's School Chester) was named to the 2021 Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team after starting 16 games and providing two goals and two assists for the 'Phins last season as a redshirt-freshman.

Michael Sparkes (Glasgow, Scotland/St. Ninians) also had a productive first regular season on The Heights in 2021. The forward scored five goals, provided two assists and played over 1,000 minutes throughout his first collegiate season last fall.

Brett Stern (Lockport, N.Y./Newfane/Duquesne) all return as forwards who gained lots of experience during the 2021 campaign. The three attackers contributed a combined five goals and three assists to the Le Moyne cause last season.

Terence Crysler-Howard started 16 contests for the 'Phins in 2021 as a defensive-minded midfielder and returns to the team this season along with sophomore
Ziad Abdul-Malak (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) who performed a similar role as a substitute during his freshman campaign last fall.

Ben Quigley (Perth, Scotland/Community School of Auchterarder/University of Stirling) played 1,176 minutes as part of the Le Moyne back line last year, his first regular season as a Dolphin, and will be an important part of the 'Phins defense in 2022.

The Caldwell University Cougars went 5-11 during the 2021 season, including a 2-9 record in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. They are led by head coach Evan Marques, who is assisted by Alex Velazquez. Senior forward Andre Vieira returns for the Cougars after leading the program with five goals and two assists in 2021. Junior forward Israel Dos Santos Neto scored four goals in just seven appearances last season for Caldwell, while senior forward Chris Ferri contributed two goals and one assist during 13 starts. Sophomore defender Joel Genao started all 16 games for the Cougars and played 1,448 total minutes last season as a freshman. Classmate Dylan Valencia started 13 games in net for the Cougars during his first collegiate season in 2021, and will return this fall alongside junior goalie Jalen Folson, who made three starts in goal for the Cougars last year.
Previously, these two programs met in September during both the 2019 and 2021 seasons. Both times the Dolphins came away with a 3-0 victory.
Kickoff for this non-conference contest is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., taking place after the Le Moyne women's team's 1:00 p.m. match on Ted Grant Field against Chestnut Hill College.
