MEN’S AND WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD TEAMS COMPETE AT TWO-DAY CORTLAND CLASSIC

4/22/2023 7:37:00 PM

Cortland, N.Y. – Freshman Lilly Capria (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) won two events and placed second in another to lead the Le Moyne College women's and men's outdoor track and field teams at the Cortland Classic on Friday and Saturday.

"We faced some very tough conditions today" said head coach Robin Wheeless. "The wind was standing us up on the backstretch, but even with that we had many of our best times of the year. I feel like we are ready for whatever mother nature throws at us for the conference meet. Lilly Capria had to be our outstanding performer in the meet. She won the high jump and the triple jump, plus she finished second in the long jump. Along the way she set a new triple jump record and improved on her long jump record with a wind-legal jump of just a quarter of an inch below 18 feet. That is an improvement of a foot and three quarters. Next week is mainly a tune-up meet, so we will be ready for the championship meet at SNHU."

Capria won the triple jump with a wind-aided mark of 37-feet, 1.75-inches (11.32m), while her new wind-legal program record in the event is 36-feet, 5.75 inches, 5.5 inches further than the previous record.
