Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's soccer team will begin its Division I era on August 17 with a regular-season opener at Maine, as the team's full schedule was announced on Friday afternoon.
Le Moyne will play 18 games in 2023, including 10 Northeast Conference contests. The Dolphins will play eight home games at Ted Grant Field.
The Maine Black Bears compiled a 9-3-5 record in 2022, including a 4-0-4 resume against American East opponents.
Following the season opener at Maine, they will play three road games against in-state foes - Iona (August 24), Niagara (August 27) and Binghamton (August 31).
The Dolphins will play their home opener on September 3 against Atlantic 10 Conference side Rhode Island. They will then host Robert Morris at Ted Grant Field on September 8 before traveling to New Jersey to take on Big East opponent Seton Hall on September 10.
The 'Phins will return home for their final non-conference game of the season against Canisius (September 13), before playing their first ever Northeast Conference game at Ted Grant Field against the Howard Bison on September 17.
They will play another home conference game against Stonehill (September 21) before playing their first NEC road contest at LIU on September 24.
Le Moyne will play at Delaware State (September 28), before playing consecutive home games against Wagner (October 1) and Merrimack (October 5), which was the no. 2 seed in the 2022 NEC Championship.
They will travel to Pennsylvania to take on the Saint Francis Red Flash on October 8, followed by a conference battle at Central Connecticut State (October 15).
The 'Phins will host the 2022 NEC Champion FDU Knights at Ted Grant Field on October 22 before traveling to Connecticut again to take on the Scared Heart Pioneers (October 26) in their regular season finale.
As announced on June 15, the NEC Presidents' Council unanimously voted to eliminate access restrictions to NEC postseason championships during an institution's transition to Division I, making the Dolphins immediately eligible to compete for a conference championship in 2023.
Six out of 11 NEC squads will qualify for the women's soccer Northeast Conference Championship, with the top two seeds receiving a first round bye. The first round of the postseason tournament will play out on October 29, the semifinals on November 2, with the title game scheduled for November 5.
In their inaugural Division I season, the Dolphins will be led by second-year head coach
Jaro Zawislan, who improved the team's winning percentage by .173 in his first season on the Heights.
The Dolphins will return 20 players from the 2022 squad, including graduate goalkeeper
Allison Moreau, junior center back
Katelyn Courcy, and midfielder
Marissa Lisikatos, a trio who played the first, second and third most minutes on the team, respectively, in 2022.
Sophomore forward
Avery Maxam, who was named to the 2022 NE10 All-Rookie Team after tallying three goals and one assist in 1,042 minutes played last season, will be back with the Dolphins this fall along with classmate
Lindsey LeBlanc, who was third on the team in points in 2022. 12 newcomers will also join the team this fall.
Coach Zawislan will also have two new additions to his coaching staff for the 2023 season in assistant
Brooke Barnes and graduate assistant
Lainey Foti '22, who started 49 games and played 3,860 minutes during her career with the Dolphins from 2018-2022.
