MEN’S GOLF EDGED BY NIAGARA IN UPSTATE DUAL CHALLENGE

Victor, N.Y. – Sophomore Anthony Maglisco (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) tied for first place to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team against Niagara University in the Upstate Dual Challenge on Saturday afternoon at the par-72, 6642-yard Ravenwood Golf Club.

The Dolphins and the Purple Eagles each recorded a total of 299 for their top four scores. Niagara earned the win by virtue of having the better fifth score, 80 to 83.

Maglisco, who made his season debut, tied with Niagara's Ben Fey for the top individual score with a one-under par 71, which featured four birdies. Graduate student Nicholas Bove (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee), who also made his season debut, placed third in the 18-member field with an even par 72, including a trio of birdies. Senior Tyler Birdd (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) finished in a four-way tie for eighth place with a 77, while classmate Spencer Baum (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) recorded a 79 to place 14th. Junior Johnny Gruninger (Syracuse, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) rounded out the team's lineup with an 83.

In addition to Fey's 71, Niagara got a 74 from Ian Wagner, a 76 from Carlos Hernandez, a 78 from Ben Herbert and an 80 from Velton Perry.

The Dolphins are back on the links on Saturday for the first two rounds of the 54-hole Macdonald Cup hosted by Yale University at The Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Connecticut.
