Buffalo, N.Y. - Senior Jack Gibson (Ilion, N.Y./Central Valley Academy) set yet another personal record leading the men's cross country team to a 3^rd place finish at the Canisius Alumni Classic. Senior Anita Jepchirchir (Eldoret, Kenya/The Kenya High School) also set a personal record to lead the women's cross country team to a 6^th place finish.

Buffalo won the team competition on the men's side with a team score of 26 points. Canisius placed 2^nd overall with a team score of 64 points, as Le Moyne finished 3^rd with a team score of 124 points.

Gibson placed set his third straight personal record, placing 13^th overall in the eight-kilometer course with a time of 25:40.3. Freshman Liam Rocks (Jersey City, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) set a personal record after placing 24^th overall with a time of 26:21.8. Sophomore Tyler Cooper (Sloatsburg, N.Y./Suffern) placed two spots behind rocks, earning a time of 26:32.6 finishing 26^th overall. Sophomore Mike Purvis (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) placed 34^th overall, finishing with a time of 26:52.0. Freshman Carson Campbell (Lee Center, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) finished the 8k in a time of 28:47.2 placing 66^th overall, as classmate Brendan O'Rourke (New Milford, N.J./Bergen Catholic) placed 86^th overall with a time of 30:24.7. Sophomore Jacob Makhlouf (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) rounded out the scoring for the Dolphins placing 93^rd overall with a time of 30:47.8.

On the women's side, Canisius won the team competition with a team score of 39 points. Saint Francis placed 2^nd overall with a team score of 40 points, as Buffalo finished 3^rd overall with a 55 points.

Jepchirchir set her second straight personal record, this time in the 5k, after placing 16^th overall with a time of 18:53.9. Sophomore Mackenzie Ples (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville) finished the 5k in a time of 20:14.1 placing 50^th overall, as classmate Stephanie James (Schenectady, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) set her second straight personal record after placing 68^th overall with a time of 21:45.8. Sophomore Angelina Rodriguez (Greenfield Center, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) placed 87th overall with a time of 25:49.3, as freshman Caitlin Lamphier (Woodhull, N.Y./Jasper-Troupsburg) set a personal record finishing just behind Rodriguez placing 88th overall with a time of 26:32.3 to round out the scoring for the 'Phins.

The Canisius Alumni Classic is the last event for the Dolphins ahead of the 2024 Northeast Conference Cross Country Championships, which begin November 1^st at 1:00 P.M.
