AVOTINS PLACES FIFTH AS WOMEN’S GOLF CLOSES OUT FALL BY PLACING FOURTH AT CRUSADER INVITATIONAL

Worcester, Mass. – Senior Mia Avotins (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) placed fifth to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Crusader Invitational presented by Cove Risk hosted by the College of the Holy Cross at the par-70, 5891 and 5777-yard Worcester Country Club.

Siena College won the team competition by three shots with a 617 after recording rounds of 308 and 309. Merrimack College placed second after turning in scores of 312 and 308 for a 620. The host Crusaders finished third with a 627 off rounds of 316 and 311. The Dolphins tallied scores of 324 and 327 to place fourth with a 651. Siena's Mackenzie Whitney earned medalist honors with a 148 off rounds of 73 and 75.

Avotins earned her first top-five finish of the season with a two-day score of 153, the fourth-best 36-hole score of her career. She registered two birdies and 23 pars, the second-most in the field. She opened the invitational with a 74, featuring one birdie and 12 pars, to land in third place. She followed with a 79, which included a birdie and 11 pars, on Tuesday to dip into fifth place.

Freshman Lauren Williams (San Francisco, Calif./University HS) finished in a four-way tie for 16th place with a season-best 160, which included four birdies, tied for the fifth-most in the field, and 14 pars. She tallied a season best-tying 78, which featured three birdies and six pars, on Monday to land in a three-way tie for ninth place. She then recorded an 82 in the second round, which included one birdie and eight pars.

Freshman Olivia Dahn (Bristol, Conn./St. Paul Catholic) tied for 25th place with a 165, which featured 16 pars. She carded an 84, including six pars, in the first round to finish in a three-way tie for 30th place. She moved up five places on Tuesday with an 81, which featured 10 pars.

Sophomore Gianna Cafarella (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory School) placed 37th with a 173, which featured one birdie and 12 pars. She was in 40th place after posting an 88, including six pars, on Monday. She followed with an 85, which included one birdie and six pars, in the second round to move up three spots.

Junior Riley Stuver (Webster, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) tied for 55th place with a 188. She registered a 97 in the first round to land in a three-way tie for 57th. She posted a 91 on day two to move up the standings.

The Dolphins will return to the links in March 2025.
