Bridgewater, N.J. – Following a stellar regular season in which the Dolphins earned the No. 4 seed in the Northeast Conference tournament, five members of the Le Moyne College men's soccer team have garnered All-NEC honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Jack Goodrich (Kelsall, England/King's School Chester) was named to the All-NEC First Team for the second season in a row, and was voted NEC Defensive Player of the Year, marking the first time that a Le Moyne men's soccer player has received a major NEC award.
Goodrich was joined on the NEC All-Conference First Team by midfielder
Ziad Abdul-Malak (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius), while defender
Maximilian Huss (Karben, Germany/Elly-Heuss/Schule) was voted to the All-NEC Second Team.
Redshirt-freshmen
Vito Kreuzpaintner (Munich, Bavaria, Germany/FOS Nord/UNC Wilmington) and
Justin Pham (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool/Dayton) both earned NEC All-Rookie Team recognition.
Goodrich tallied four goals and two assists in 14 regular season starts to earn back-to-back All-NEC First Team honors. He is just the second Le Moyne player in the last 30 seasons to win a conference Defensive Player of the Year award, and the first since Niklas Breunung, who was named NE10 Defensive Player of the Year in 2018.
Goodrich, who has tallied 12 goals and 13 assists in 64 starts during his Le Moyne career, has now earned all-conference accolades in all four of his seasons on the Heights. The Kelsall, England native was named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team in 2021, then NE10 Third Team All-Conference in 2022, along with First Team All-NEC honors in 2023 and 2024.
Goodrich's 13 career assists are tied for the 14
th-most in program history, and he is the program leader in career penalty kicks made with eight.
Goodrich's first goal of the 2024 campaign lifted Le Moyne to a 1-0 win over #7 Syracuse on Labor Day, which was the program's first victory over a nationally ranked opponent in its Division I era.
The redshirt-senior defender then scored in each of Le Moyne's next two matches, putting away a penalty kick during a 2-2 draw against Delaware, then converting a half-bicycle kick during a 2-0 win over Saint Peter's.
Goodrich scored his final goal of the regular season during a 2-2 draw against FDU, then tallied assists in back-to-back games against Stonehill and Lafayette.
Ziad Abdul-Malak was named to the All-NEC First Team after compiling four goals and one assist in 1,278 minutes and 15 starts during the regular season.
Abdul-Malak scored his first goal of the season during the win over Saint Peter's, smashing a right-footed shot from well outside the box into the top left corner of the net.
He then scored in Le Moyne's next game at St. Bonaventure, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Abdul-Malak hit the back of the net again during a 4-0 conference win at Chicago State, then provided an assist during a 4-0 conference win against Central Connecticut State.
He scored his final goal of the regular season during a 2-0 conference win over Howard. A steady presence in the middle of the field for the Dolphins, Abdul-Malak has gone the full 90 minutes in 10 different contests this season, and is third on the squad in minutes played.
Sophomore defender
Maximilian Huss was voted to the All-NEC Second Team after logging 1,345 minutes during the regular season as part of Le Moyne's stifling back line. Huss played the full 90 minutes during shutouts against Syracuse, Saint Peter's, Stonehill, Central Connecticut State and Howard, and logged 85 minutes during the clean sheet at Chicago State. Huss also scored his first career goal against Chicago State.
Through two seasons as a Dolphin, Huss has started all 32 games that he has played in, and has logged a total of 2,875 minutes.
Vito Kreuzpaintner was named to the Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team in his first collegiate campaign with the Dolphins. The defender from Munich registered three goals and one assist through 15 games played and 14 starts in the regular season and helped the Dolphins collect six clean sheets.
Kreuzpaintner delivered an assist during his collegiate debut against Canisius, which resulted in a 3-2 win for the 'Phins. He scored during shutout wins against Stonehill and CCSU, then found the back of the net once again during the regular season finale against LIU.
He logged a total of 1,070 as part of Le Moyne's back line, which allowed the fewest goals in the NEC.
Justin Pham, a redshirt-freshman winger from Liverpool, New York, is a Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team honoree after leading the Dolphins in points during NEC play. Pham tallied all eight of his regular-season points, via two goals and four assists, in eight conference matches.
Pham was the only Dolphin to appear in all 16 games during the regular season, logging 1,105 minutes with 14 starts.
During Le Moyne's 1-0 win at #7 Syracuse, Pham earned the Dolphins a penalty kick in the 17
th minute that led to Goodrich's winning goal.
He scored his first career goal during the conference opener against FDU, thumping home a header in the 52
nd minute to tie the match at 2-2 and help the Dolphins earn a point at Ted Grant Field.
He recorded a season-best three points via a goal and an assist during the win at Chicago State, then he added an assist during the next match at Stonehill.
Pham also provided assists during shutout wins against CCSU and Howard.
The Dolphins compiled a 7-5-4 record, including 4-3-1 in NEC play to clinch a spot in the four-team Northeast Conference Tournament, marking the 23
rd consecutive season that the program will compete in its conference postseason.
Le Moyne conceded just 19 goals during the regular season, which was the fewest number of goals allowed by an NEC team.
The fourth-seeded Dolphins will travel to top-seeded FDU for a NEC Tournament semifinal match on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The contest will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
