Berlin, Md. – Graduate student
Nicholas Bove (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) tied for 15th place to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to a ninth-place finish at the Battle at Rum Pointe, hosted by Iona University, at the par-72, 7001-yard Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links.
LaSalle University won the team competition with a two-day total off 590 off rounds of 301 and one-over par 289. The University of Pennsylvania placed second with a 591 following scores of 299 and 292. Iona College finished third at 593 after rounds of 305 and 288. The Dolphins recorded a 36-hole score of 613 following rounds of 313 and 300. LaSalle's Ben Battye earned medalist honors by six shots with a seven-under par 137 off scores of three-under 69 and four-under 68.
Bove finished the 36 holes with a total of 150 to tie for 15th place. He opened with a 77 to land in an eight-way tie for 20th place in the field of 100. He moved up five spots in the standings on Saturday with a one-over par 73, which featured 11 pars and three birdies.
Sophomore
Anthony Maglisco (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) recorded a 152 to land in a four-way tie for 24th place. Maglisco, who was tied for first in the field in pars with 27, was in a seven-way tie for 28th place following a first-round 78. He moved up the standings on the second day with a 74, which featured 15 pars and one birdie.
Senior
Tyler Birdd (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) was part of a six-way tie for 44th place with a 156 total. He was part of a 10-way tie for 35th after turning in a 79 in the first round. He shot two better on Saturday, including 14 pars, but dipped nine spots in the standings.
Graduate student
Luke Barney (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal) was part of a six-way tie for 59th place with a 159. He was in a nine-way tie for 67th with an 83 on the first day and moved up eight places on Saturday with a 76, which featured 11 pars an a pair of birdies.
Freshman
Owen Corby (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) finished in a four-way tie for 76th at 162. He was part of the 10-way tie for 35th with Birdd after turning in a 79 in the first round. He closed out the invitational with an 83 in the second round.
The Dolphins are back in action at Columbia University's Roar-EE Invitational on Saturday, April 13 at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, N.Y.
