Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne women's lacrosse team searches for its fourth straight victory when it visits Vermont on Wednesday afternoon. The contest marks the eighth meeting between the two. Le Moyne won the first four from 2004-2007, but Vermont has claimed the last three. The Catamounts' latest win was a 13-9 victory over Le Moyne in 2010.

After a strong start to 2024, Vermont has struggled recently. The Catamounts are on a four-game losing streak and have won just one of their last seven contests. Vermont has lost to UAlbany, Binghamton, Bryant and UMBC during its skid. Their last win came on the road against New Hampshire on March 16. Opponents have scored 10 or more goals in nine consecutive matchups when facing the Catamounts.

Vermont does have its opening games to think back on, though. The Catamounts began 4-0 this year, with wins over Coastal Carolina, Gardner-Webb and NEC members Merrimack and LIU. Le Moyne went 1-1 against those conference foes in 2024. Vermont averaged nearly 14 goals in its first four contests. Since then, the Catamounts have mustered under 10 scores per game.

Vermont is led by graduate midfielder Ava Vasile, who has dominated in 2024. She tops the team in goals (44), assists (13), and points (57). Vasile has scored in every contest this season. She had a hot stretch towards the beginning of the season, scoring six goals in three straight games from February 17 to 27. Her season-high came against New Hampshire on March 16, where she notched seven goals. Vasile is efficient as well, converting on 76% of her shots on goal. She also leads Vermont in draw wins with 51.

Sophomore attacker Jane Trauger is a solid option for the Catamounts as well. She ranks second on Vermont in goals (26) and third in assists (7). Trauger has been strong over her last two contests, scoring seven total times. She's recorded four hat-tricks this season and has nine multi-goal games. Trauger's best performance of 2024 came against Marist on March 2 when she notched four goals and an assist.

And in goal, freshman Anna Rosenberger has been a staple in Vermont's net. She's played in all but one game for the Catamounts. Rosenberger has five wins and a 40.5% save rate in 2024. She's faced over 330 shots this year.

Le Moyne enters Wednesday's contest on a three-game winning streak. The Dolphins downed Wagner 10-7 on Saturday. It was Le Moyne's fourth consecutive time limiting opponents to under 9 goals. The contest was also the Dolphins' last regular season home game of 2024.

Two different Le Moyne players tallied hat-tricks against Wagner. Senior attackers Sarah Hutchings and Reilly Geer both notched three goals in the win. Hutchings had her third straight multi-goal game on Saturday. Geer's three goals marked her second consecutive hat-trick. Hutchings currently leads the Dolphins with 26 goals and 18 assists this season. Geer ranks third with 16 goals and second with eight assists.

Fifth year goalie Paige Crandall was also dominant for Le Moyne. Crandall posted a 58.8% save rate, her best since early March. Her 10 total saves were also Crandall's most since March 16. Crandall has double-digit saves in seven contests this season. Her goals allowed continues to drop and now sits at 10.06 per game.

Following Wednesday's contest against Vermont, Le Moyne heads to Howard for its final NEC matchup on Saturday, April 20. The Dolphins then close out the regular season on the road against the University at Albany on Tuesday, April 23.
