MEN'S SOCCER WINNING GOAL NAMED LE MOYNE PLAY OF THE WEEK, PRESENTED BY 'PHINS HOSPITALITY

Syracuse, N.Y. – The men's soccer team's go-ahead goal during its 3-2 victory over Canisius University, which was scored by senior defender Brady McNulty (San Gabriel, Calif./Temple City/Niagara) and assisted by redshirt-freshman defender Vito Kreuzpaintner (Munich, Bavaria, Germany/FOS Nord/UNC Wilmington), has been named the Le Moyne Play of the Week, presented by 'Phins Hospitality.

The Dolphins held two different one-goal leads during the first half of their season opener against the Griffs at Ted Grant Field on Thursday, but both times Canisius equalized soon after Le Moyne took the lead, knotting the score at 2-2 after 45 minutes of play.

Le Moyne went ahead for good in the 64th minute as McNulty and Kreuzpaintner tallied their first career goal and assist, respectively, during their Le Moyne debuts.

The sequence began with a free kick taken by junior midfielder Bryce Koagel (West Monroe, N.Y./Paul V. Moore/Medaille), who sent the ball in the air to the far post. The ball fell inside the six-yard box, and was kicked high in the air by a Canisius defender.

Junior forward Cameron Stuart (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) headed the ball back towards the goal mouth, but a Canisius player knocked it back out towards the top of the 18-yard box, where Le Moyne redshirt-freshman winger Justin Pham (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool/Dayton) gained possession.

Pham scanned the defense then slipped a pass towards the edge of the six-yard box for Kreuzpaintner, who ripped a shot that was blocked into the air by the Canisius goalkeeper. McNulty took a couple steps backwards, settled under the ball and smashed a right-footed volley into the top of the Canisius goal to give the Dolphins a 3-2 lead. McNulty ran over to the Le Moyne bench as the entire squad celebrated the tally that ended up being the match winner.

The Le Moyne College men's soccer team (1-1), will return to action on Labor Day with a 7 p.m. match at Syracuse University.
