LUCAS CLAY COMPETES IN BREASTSTROKE EVENTS AT TOYOTA U.S. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Austin, Tex. – Sophomore Lucas Clay (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) of Le Moyne College's men's swimming and diving team competed at the USA Swimming Toyota U.S. Open Championships on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 4-5. 

Clay qualified for the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:02.97 on July 18 at the Niagara Swimming Long Course Championships. Clay's time ranks in the top-75 nationally and near the top-300 worldwide. His time is about three-quarters of a second off the Olympic Trials cut time from 2024.

Clay earned second place in the C Final of the 100-meter breaststroke event at the Toyota U.S. Open Championships on Friday, coming in at the 1:02.80 mark, just .13 seconds behind first place.

Clay also competed in the 50-meter breaststroke event, placing sixth of eight in the C Final with a time of 29.26. 

What's Next:
Those who qualified will compete at the CSCAA Open Water National Championships in Ocala, Fla. on Dec. 13 while the Dolphins will compete as a team next in Brooklyn, N.Y. as they take on LIU on Saturday, Jan. 17.
