MEN’S GOLF FINISHES 12TH AT THE CARPETBAGGER CLASSIC

Urbana, Md. – Sophomore Owen Corby (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) tied for seventh place to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to 12th place at The Carpetbagger Classic hosted by Binghamton University and Colgate University at the par-72, 7034-yard Worthington Manor Golf Club.

Mount St. Mary's University won the event for the second straight year with a final score of 584 following rounds of 293 and 291. Gettysburg used a second-round four-under par 284 to jump from a three-way tie for 11th to a tie for second place with a total of 593. Howard also finished at 593 after posting scores of 301 and 292. The Dolphins followed up their opening-round 307 with a 305, but slipped to 12th place in the 16-team field. Aaron Sorkin from Mount St. Mary's earned medalist honors with a two-under par 142 after rounds of two-under 70 and even-par 72.

Corby finished in a five-way tie for seventh in the 92-player field with a three-over par 147, which featured 10 birdies and 13 pars. He opened with a 75, which included five birdies and five pars, to land in a 13-way tie for 15th place. He moved up the standings on Sunday with an even-par 72, which featured five more birdies and eight pars.

Junior Anthony Maglisco (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) finished in a five-way tie for 12th place with a four-over par 148, which included eight birdies and 18 pars. He was in a three-way tie for 10th place after a first-round one-over par 73, which featured three birdies over his first eight holes and 11 pars. He posted a 75 in the second round, which included five birdies and seven pars, to dip two places in the standings.

Freshman George Green (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) landed in an eight-way tie for 50th place with a 155, which featured five birdies and 19 pars. In the first round, he recorded a 78, including three birdies and nine pars, to land in a nine-way tie for 46th place. He followed with two birdies and 10 pars in the second round to post a 77.

Freshman Mac Quinn (Glenwood, N.Y./Canisius HS) placed in a three-way tie for 82nd with a 161, which featured four birdies and 19 pars. He tallied an 81 in the first round, including two birdies and nine pars, to land in a four-way tie for 72nd place. He turned in another 81, featuring two more birdies and ten pars.

Freshman Jacob Moody (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) finished 91st with a 170 after having 16 pars. He was in an a four-way tie for 80th place with an 83 in the first round. He then carded an 87 in the second round.

The Dolphins are back in Maryland at the end of week as they take part in the Battle at Rum Pointe hosted by Iona University on Friday and Saturday at Rum Point Seaside Golf Links in Berlin, Maryland.
