Warren, Ohio – Senior
Mia Avotins (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) tied for 12th place to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the YSU Spring Invitational on Sunday and Monday at the par-72, 5813-yard Avalon Lakes Golf Course.
The host Penguins won by 14 shots with a two-day score of 582 off rounds of one-under 287 and 295. Bucknell University placed second with a 596 after scores of 297 and 299. Saint Francis University finished third with a 606 total after carding back-to-back 303s. The Dolphins turned in a 652 off scores of 325 and 327. Youngstown State's Valentina Pena Anaya (74-70) and Neeranuch Prajunpanich (72-72) tied for medalist honors with an even-par total of 144.
Avotins finished in a three-way tie for 12th place in the 55-member field with a 36-hole score of 153, which featured two birdies and 24 pars. She was in a tie for 14th after turning in a 77 in the first round, which included one birdie and 12 pars. She followed with a 76 in the second round, which featured another birdie and 12 more pars.
Sophomore
Gianna Cafarella (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory School) finished in a three-way tie for 23rd place with a 160, which included one birdie and 20 pars. She was in a tie for 21st place after the first round with a 79, which featured one birdie and nine pars. She tallied 11 pars in the second round en route to an 81.
Freshman
Olivia Dahn (Bristol, Conn./St. Paul Catholic) tied for 36th place with a 170 after turning in one birdie and 12 pars. She posted one birdie and five pars in the first round as part of an 87, which had her in a four-way tie for 40th place. She moved up four spots in the standings on Monday with an 83, which included seven pars.
Freshman
Lauren Williams (San Francisco, Calif./University HS) placed 38th with a total of 171, which featured one birdie and 17 pars. She was in a four-way tie for 28th place after the first round following an 82, which featured 11 pars. She recorded an 89 in the second round, including six pars.
Junior
Riley Stuver (Webster, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) finished in a three-way tie for 41st place with a 174, which featured two birdies and 10 pars. She tallied an 87 in the first round, which included one birdie and four pars, to land in a four-way tie for 40th place. She registered another 87 on the second day, including one birdie and six pars, but dipped a spot.
Sophomore
Cambell Kennedy (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) recorded 11 pars en route to a 175 to land in a four-way tie for 44th place. She was part of the four-way tie for 40th after the first round with an 87, which included seven pars. She turned in an 88 in the second round, featuring four pars.
Le Moyne concludes the pre-Championship portion of its schedule on Wednesday at the Skyhawk Senior Showdown hosted by Stonehill College at Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton, Mass.
