Brockton, Mass. – Senior
Mia Avotins (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) tied for sixth place to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a third-place finish at Stonehill College's Senior Showdown on Wednesday afternoon at the par-70, 5883-yard Thorny Lea Golf Club.
Merrimack College won the four-team event with a score of 314. Bryant University placed second with a 324, Le Moyne was third with a 329 and Stonehill placed fourth at 333. Merrimack's Aca Lucas earned medalist honors with a 75.
Avotins registered an 81, which included nine pars, to finish in a three-way tie for sixth place in the 26-player field. Freshmen
Olivia Dahn (Bristol, Conn./St. Paul Catholic) and
Lauren Williams (San Francisco, Calif./University HS) were part of a three-way tie for ninth place with 82s. Dahn had nine pars, while Williams had two birdies and five pars. Sophomore
Gianna Cafarella (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory School) finished in a four-way tie for 13th place with an 84, which included one birdie and six pars. Sophomore
Cambell Kennedy (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) tied for 19th with an 86, which featured seven pars. Junior
Riley Stuver (Webster, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) placed 25th with a 98, including five pars.
Le Moyne is back on the links on Friday for the first round of the three-day Northeast Conference Championship at the Kingsmill Resort Plantation Course in Williamsburg, Virginia.
