Lopatcong, N.J. – Sophomore
Lauren Williams (San Francisco, Calif./University HS) placed 10th and broke the program's 54-hole scoring record to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a seventh-place finish and the program's scoring record at the Autumn Harvest on Monday and Tuesday at the par-71, 6111-yard Architects Golf Club.
Quinnipiac University won the team competition by one stroke with a total of 864 off rounds of 294, two-under 282 and 288. Lehigh University placed second at 865 following scores of 287, 287 and 291. LIU placed third with a total of 915 after rounds of 309, 300 and 306. Quinnipiac's Sophia Fujita earned medalist honors with a nine-under total of 204 after rounds of two-under 69, three-under 68 and four-under 67.
The Dolphins finished in seventh place with a 54-hole program-record total of 952. The Dolphins opened with a 318, followed with a 317 and tallied a 317 on Tuesday. The 952 broke the previous program record of 968 set at the Bucknell Invitational in September 2024. The team's 635 through the first two rounds is tied with their performance two weeks in Delaware for the second-best in the program's history.
Williams finished in 10th place in the 51-player field with a program-best 54-hole total of 225, which featured seven birdies (tied for the sixth-most in the field) and 32 pars. The previous record of 231 was set by
Mia Avotins '25 at Niagara's Purple Eagle Invite October 1 and 2, 2023. She opened with a then-career best 76, including three birdies and nine pars, to land in a 10-way tie for eighth. She carded a career-best 73 in the afternoon, featuring two birdies and 12 pars, to end the day in a four-way tie for ninth place. Her 73 is tied with three others for the third-best score in the program's history and is the best mark by a sophomore (eclipsing the previous mark of 74 set by Katie Walsh '18 in September 2016). Williams' 36-hole total of 149 is tied for the third-best by a Dolphin and is the best score by a sophomore (surpassing a 151 by Avotins in September 2022). She closed out the invitational with a bookending 76, which included two birdies and 11 pars, to finish in 10th. She joins Avotins at Toledo's Rocket Classic last year as the only Dolphins to record three rounds in the 70s.
Freshman
Caroline McShea (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) placed 30th with a total of 238, which featured three birdies and 26 pars. She opened with an 81, including two birdies and five pars, to land in a three-way tie for 31st place. She followed up with an 80, featuring one birdie and nine pars, but dipped two spots. She moved up three places on the final day with a 77, which included 12 pars.
Senior
Riley Stuver (Webster, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and junior
Gianna Cafarella (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory School) finished in a four-way tie for 33rd place at 248. Stuver, whose total was the best of her career, ended the third round with four birdies and 23 pars. She recorded an 80 in the first round, featuring one birdie and 11 pars, to land in a four-way tie for 27th place. She tallied another 80 in the afternoon, including three birdies and four pars, to place 32nd. She closed out the event with an 88, including eight pars.
Cafarella had one birdie and 22 pars. She was in the tie with McShea for 31st after an 81 in the opening round, which included nine pars. She posted an 85 in the second round, featuring one birdie and six pars, to end the day in 39th place. She moved up six spots on Tuesday with an 82, which included seven pars.
Freshman
Elizabeth Holden (Clinton, Maine/Lawrence) ended in a three-way tie for 37th with a total of 250, which included two birdies and 21 pars. She was in a four-way tie for 41st after a first-round 84, which featured one birdie and six pars. She tallied another 84 in the afternoon, including eight pars, to land in a three-way tie for 42nd. She jumped five places with an 82 in the second round, which featured one birdie and seven pars.
The Dolphins are back in action on October 12 and 13 at the UAlbany Great Danes Invitational at Normanside Country Club in Delmar, N.Y.
