TORTORA NAMED NEC WOMEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Bridgewater, N.J. – Le Moyne College graduate student attacker Francesca Tortora (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Stony Brook) has been named the NEC women's lacrosse Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Tortora earned the honor after registering nine points on five goals and four assists in Le Moyne's 1-1 week. She opened the week with three points on two goals and one assist in a setback at Canisius on Wednesday. She tallied a career-best six points on three goals and a career-high three assists in an 11-9 come-from-behind victory against Stonehill on Saturday. Her third goal with 2:02 remaining in the fourth quarter broke a 9-9 tie and gave the Dolphins the lead for good.

Through eight games, Tortora has 24 points on 15 goals and nine assists. She is tied for fifth in the NEC in assists, sixth in total points and assists per game (1.13), tied for seventh in goals scored, eighth in points per game (3.00) and tied for ninth in goals per game (1.88).

Le Moyne (6-2, 1-0 NEC), which opened NEC play with a home win over Stonehill for the second time in three years, plays its first NEC road game of the season next Saturday at Howard University at 12:00 p.m.
