Syracuse, N.Y. – Aimee Goldstein scored the game's only goal in the 85th minute to give Adelphi University a 1-0 win over Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

The scoreless first half had six combined shots, four of which were taken by the Panthers. Adelphi had all three of the half's shots on goal, but sophomore goalkeeper Tori Corsaro (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) was able to corral all three attempts.

Just under 15 minutes into the second half, the Dolphins appeared to get on the scoreboard, but the goal was waved off. Sophomore forward Kelly Ristoff (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Siena) beat the goalkeeper with a shot from 12 yards, but the ball hit off the left post. The rebound was knocked into the empty net, but was waved off due to an offside violation.

Midway through the stanza, freshman forward Rachel Terry (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) had an opportunity to give the Dolphins the lead, but Adelphi goalkeeper Sam Whitney was able to make a sliding save.

The Panthers broke through with the game-winner with 5:26 remaining in the contest. Melissa Duarte took a pass on the left sideline and carried the ball to the top left corner of the penalty box before sending a pass towards the goal box. Goldstein slipped behind a defender and one-timed a shot into the left side of the netting from the top of the goal box for her first goal of the season.

Terry had a free kick from 25 yards out on the left side with 3:58 remaining, but Whitney was able to make the save to preserve the shutout.

Corsaro finished the contest with three saves in suffering her second loss of the season, while Whitney registered four saves in the second half to pick up her fifth shutout of the campaign. Each team took nine shots in the game, while Adelphi took six of the contest's nine corner kicks.

Le Moyne (4-8-2, 2-7-2 NE-10), which closes out its home schedule on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. against Saint Michael's College, will honor its senior class of back Carly Bonzerato (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and midfielders Kate Deasy (Pittsford, N.Y./Aquinas Institute), Colleen Oberle (Euclid, Ohio/Regina) and Jennifer Fabian (Clay, N.Y./C.W. Baker) prior to the game.
