MEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO ASSUMPTION, 8-1, IN NORTHEAST-10 ACTION

Liverpool, N.Y. – Viljami Rahnasto posted two victories to lead Assumption College to an 8-1 win over the Le Moyne College men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Gold's Gym.

In doubles action, Le Moyne picked up its only point of the match at the top spot as freshman Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) and redshirt junior Stephane Legris (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury/Adirondack C.C.) registered an 8-6 win over Marco Leung and Casey Hodor. Rahnasto teamed with Chris Waung to record an 8-6 victory over sophomores James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) at first doubles. Jakob Zylak and Tom Knight won at third doubles for the Greyhounds by default.

At first singles, Waung claimed the victory despite trailing 7-5, 4-1 to Gayvert, who had to retire in the second set. Leung was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Barton at second singles, while Zylak registered a 6-3, 6-4 win over Procopio at fourth singles. After Knight gave the Greyhounds their seventh point with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fifth singles over sophomore Adam Celata (Hamilton, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham Regional), Rahnasto edged Legris at third singles, 9-7. Zack Slepchuk won by default at sixth singles.
 
Le Moyne (5-6, 3-2 NE-10), which drops to 1-5 in the Spring semester, returns to action on Saturday at Adelphi University at 1:00 p.m. at the Point Set Racquet Club in Oceanside, N.Y.
