WOMEN’S GOLF PLACES 14TH AT MUSIC CITY INVITATIONAL

Murfreesboro, Tenn.- The Dolphins finished up play at the Music City Invitational today, placing 14th. The team remained in 14th place after finishing there yesterday in the first round. Freshman Mia Avotins (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) once again led the Dolphins.

The 16-team, 95-player tournament was held at Old Fort Golf Club, which played as a par 72, from 5972 yards and hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University. The team competition was won by Christian Brothers University, which combined for a score of 605 off of rounds of 300 and 305. The Bucs finished five strokes ahead of The University of Montevallo and Northwood University. The Dolphins finished in 14th with a combined score of 682 off of rounds of 342 and 340. The individual competition was won by Franklin Pierce's Kesinee Prukmathakul, who combined for a six-under score of 138 off of rounds of 66 and 72.

Finishing in a tie for 29th was freshman Mia Avotins, who combined for a score of 157 after rounds of 78 and 79. Her two rounds were played in just 13 shots over par and featured 22 pars. Freshman Nataly Avotins (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) finished in a tie for 46th, combining for a season-best score of 160 off of rounds of 81 and a season-best 79. Her eagle on the 14th hole, in the first round, was one of just four eagles from the whole tournament.

Senior Meghan McKeen (Syracuse, N.Y./ Christian Brothers Academy) improved with an 81 in the second round. After an 83 in the first round, she combined for a score of 164, placing her in a tie for 59th, which snapped her program-record streak of top-10 finishes at eight. Her three birdies in both rounds was tied for sixth-most in the entire tournament.

Junior Mikeala Riley (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) finished 93rd with a combined score of 202 after two rounds of 101. Junior Madeline Ferris (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt) finished 95th, after rounds of 100 and 110, combining for a total score of 210.
