MEN’S SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAM DEFEATS NAZARETH, WOMEN FALL TO GOLDEN FLYERS

Rochester, N.Y. – Redshirt freshman Ryan McMahon (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) won three events to lead the Le Moyne College men's swimming and diving team to a 138-93 victory over Nazareth College on Friday evening at the Shults Center. The Golden Flyers defeated the women's team, 126-111.

McMahon was victorious in the 200 freestyle by almost two seconds with a time of 2:04.22. He posted a time of 4:24,39 to win the 400 freestyle by 0.34 seconds. He registered his third win of the day in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.23 to with by 0.65 seconds.

The quartet of freshman Dominic Fratto (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo), junior Charles Morris (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) and seniors Brandon Bardin (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Alex Turczyn (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) won the meet opening 200 medley relay with a time of 1:50.08.

Junior Joseph Malone (Merrick, N.Y./Wellington C. Mepham/SUNY Old Westbury) captured the 800 freestyle by over 12 seconds with a time of 9:07.73.

Morris won the 50 freestyle by just under one second with a time of 23.79 seconds. He added a victory in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.53 seconds to win by almost two seconds.

Freshman Justin Byrne (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) won both of the diving events. He won the one-meter diving event with 278.17 points and captured the three-meter with 261.45 points.

Bardin claimed the 100 butterfly by one and one-half seconds by touching the wall in 1:02.05.

Fratto registered the victory in the 100 backstroke by 0.38 seconds with a time of 1:02.07.

On the women's side, freshman Hannah Kellogg (Cazenovia, N.Y./Chittenango) registered a time of 9:46.53 to win the 800 freestyle by over 16 seconds for Le Moyne's first victory of the night.

Junior Caitlyn Longway (Sauquoit, N.Y./Sauquoit Valley) claimed the 200 freestyle by less than half a second by touching the wall in 2:16.85. She later won the 100 freestyle by over two seconds with a time of 1:01.55.

Junior Madison Zapisek (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) won the 200 IM by just nine one-hundredths of a second with a time of 2:39.22. She also placed first in the 400 freestyle by almost five seconds with a time of 4:52.38.

Redshirt freshman Grace Thomas (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) was victorious in the 100 backstroke by three and one-half seconds with a time of 1:08.65.

Senior Mikael Ann Melfi (Clayton, N.Y./Thousand Islands) won the 100 breaststroke by one-quarter of a second with a time of 1:18.87.
 
The Dolphins close out the regular season on Saturday, January 22 at home against SUNY Cortland at 1:00 p.m.
