Dan Ludington (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and incoming freshman
Emmet McDermott (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) helped the Ireland National Team to the 2024 Under-20 European Championship this summer in Wroclaw, Poland.
Ireland opened pool play with an 8-3 victory over Germany. Ludington scored once in the contest, while McDermott dished out the assist on the goal.
The following day, the Irish cruised to a 14-1 win over Switzerland. McDermott scored the first two goals of the game and then picked up the assist on the next goal, while Ludington finished the contest with three goals.
Ireland improved to 3-0 in pool play with an 11-5 victory over Latvia. McDermott was tabbed the Player of the Game after registering a team-high five points on three goals and two assists. Ludington was second on the squad with three points on two goals and an assist.
The Irish completed pool play undefeated with an 11-4 win over Israel. Ludington scored once in the contest to become the only player on the team to score in each game of pool play.
In the quarterfinals, Ireland defeated Netherlands, 10-3. Ludington was one of three players on the team to score a pair of goals in the contest.
Ireland advanced to the championship game with an 11-3 victory over Sweden. McDermott picked up the assist on the team's sixth goal.
McDermott recorded five points on two goals and three assists, including on the eventual game-winning goal, to lead the Irish to a 10-7 victory over England, the defending champion, in the championship game.
McDermott finished the championship third on the team in points with 15 on seven goals and eight assists, the second-highest mark on the squad. He ranked tied for sixth among all players in the tournament in assists and was 16th in points. Ludington recorded 10 points on nine goals (the fourth-most on the team and tied for 21st in the tournament) and one assist.
