Brockport, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College men's and women's track & field teams set three program records at the Brockport Multi on Saturday.
"Today we went to Brockport for a little tuneup ahead of the Conference Championships," said head coach
Robin Wheeless. "We rested a couple of people and still we ended up with quite a few personal records."
On the men's side, freshman
Christopher Zajdel (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) placed 4
th overall in the 200m event after running a time of 22.65. He also placed 1
st overall in the 400m event after running a time of 50.85. Junior
Payton Hirsch (Hamilton, N.Y./Morrisville-Eaton) also competed in the 400m event, earning himself a 10
th place finish with a time of 53.02.
Three Dolphins placed in the top-7 in the men's 600m event. Sophomore
Skylar Gravell (Malone, N.Y./Franklin Academy) set a program record after finishing 1
st overall and clocking in with a time of 1:22.56. Junior
Joseph Pecoraro (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph's By The Sea) set a personal record after placing 6
th overall with a time of 1:31.07. Sophomore
Terry Tillock (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream South) finished just one spot behind Pecoraro, placing 7
th overall with a time of 1:31.77, also a personal record.
Redshirt-Junior
Matthew Frisa (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) set a personal record in the 800m event after placing 7
th overall with a time of 2:00.17. Freshman
Brendan O'Rourke (New Milford, N.J./Bergen Catholic) also set a personal record after placing 0.02 seconds behind Frisa, crossing the finish line with a time of 2:00.19 and finishing 8
th overall.
In the Mile event, sophomore
Tyler Cooper (Sloatsburg, N.Y./Suffern) set a personal record after placing 4
th overall with a time of 4:25.25.
Sophomore
Mike Purvis (Liverpool, Liverpool) also set a personal record in the men's 3000m event, placing 4
th overall after clocking in a time of 9:16.10.
The quartet of senior
Brandon Scott (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee),
Christopher Zajdel,
Skylar Gravell and
Matthew Frisa earned themselves a 1st place finish in the men's 4x400 relay, running a time of 3:29.67.
Freshman
Trevon Walker (Clay, N.Y.Cicero-North Syracuse) placed 10
th overall in the men's long jump after jumping a distance of 40-feet, 1.5-inches. Walker also placed 8
th overall in the men's triple jump event after earning a distance of 40-feet, 1.5-inches. Freshman
Carter DeRosa (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) placed one spot behind Walker after finishing 9
th overall with a distance of 40-feet, 1.25-inches.
On the women's side, freshman
Caitlin Lamphier (Woodhull, N.Y./Jasper-Troupsburg) set a personal record in the 600m event, placing 12
th overall with a time of 2:02.21.
Sophomore
Mackenzie Ples (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville) placed 12
th overall in the 800m event after clocking in with a time of 2:30.63. Freshman
Isabella O'Donnell (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) placed 16
th overall, setting a personal record after running a time of 2:31.12.
Freshman
Sara Edmonson (Leonardsville, N.Y./Mount Markham) placed 3
rd overall in the women's 60m hurdles after earning herself a time of 10.08.
The quartet of freshman
Jacey Locci (Stillwater, N.Y./Stillwater), freshman
Lilly Gilles (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport), sophomore
Amanda Lowenguth (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) and sophomore
Rosalie Vincent (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) placed 7
th overall in the women's 4x400 relay, clocking in with a time of 4:28.89.
Jacey Locci also set a program record in the women's high jump event after she placed 1
st overall with a height of 5-feet, 5.25-inches. Junior
Lilly Capria (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) also set a program record in the long jump after earning a distance of 17-feet, 5-inches, placing 3
rd overall. Capria also placed 3
rd overall in the triple jump event after earning a distance of 34-feet, 10.25-inches.
"In the past month, it seems like we've talked about distance school records and sprints," said head coach
Robin Wheeless. "We even had a throwing record, but we haven't talked about our women jumpers enough. Today
Lilly Capria added over a foot to her long jump record, and
Jacey Locci took the school record in the high jump that moved her to second in the conference. I'm looking forward to next week!"
The next time the Dolphins will be competing will be at the 2025 Northeast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships set to begin on Sunday, February 16th at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
