Utica, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College men's and women's track & field teams set three program records at the Utica Winter Open on Friday at the Hutton Sports and Recreation Center.
"I feel like I keep repeating myself, but we had an amazing night tonight at Utica University," said head coach
Robin Wheeless. "We set a lot of personal records again,
Jack Gibson improved his indoor PR by well over a minute, running the 2
nd fastest 5k in program history."
On the men's side, freshman
Christopher Zajdel (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt) set a program record in the 200m, finishing 9
th overall in a time of 22.73. He also set a program record in the 400m after finishing 1
st overall in a time of 49.74. Sophomore
Christopher Moser (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) placed 7
th overall after running a time of 51.79. Sophomore
Skylar Gravell (Malone, N.Y./ Franklin Academy) placed two spots behind Moser, coming in with a time of 51.93 and placing 9
th overall.
Junior
Payton Hirsch (Hamilton, N.Y./Morrisville-Eaton) had the best finish for the Dolphins in the men's 500m, placing 6
th overall after completing the race in a time of 1:10.56. Freshman
Brendan O'Rourke (New Milford, N.J./Bergen Catholic) set a personal record in the 500m, earning a 9
th place finish with a time of 1:10.78. Junior
Joseph Pecoraro (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph's By The Sea) and sophomore
Terry Tillock (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream South) also set personal records in the 500m event. Pecoraro ran a time of 1:12.64 finishing 14th overall, while Tillock ran a time of 1:13.08, placing one spot behind Pecoraro at 15
th overall.
Sophomore
Mike Purvis (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) set a personal record for the second week in a row, this time in the 800m event that saw him run a time of 2:00.53 and place 6
th overall.
Senior
Jack Gibson (Ilion, N.Y./Central Valley Academy) set a facility record at the Hutton Sports & Recreation Center after running the 5k race in a time of 15:01.91, also a personal record, and placing 1
st overall. Sophomore
Tyler Cooper (Sloatsburg, N.Y./Suffern) also ran the 5k, finishing with a time of 15:40.44 and placing 5
th overall.
The quartet of Moser, Purvis, Pecoraro and O'Rouke placed 8
th overall in the men's 4x400 relay, after running a time of 3:37.33. Freshman

Matthew Frisa (Spencersport, N.Y./Spencerport) and sophomore

th overall with a time of 3:40.01.

Trevon Walker (Clay, N.Y./Cicero North Syracuse) set a new program record in the long jump after earning a distance of 21-feet, 8.25-inches and placing 4
th overall. Freshmna
Carter DeRosa (Syracuse, N.Y./Auburn) set a personal record in the triple jump after placing 5
th overall and earning a distance of 40-feet, 6-inches.
Junior
Adam Cuyler (Phoenix, N.Y./C.W. Baker) set a personal record in the shot put after placing 8th overall and earning a distance of 40-feet, 7.75-inches. Sophomore
Joseph Doran (Camden, N.Y./Camden) placed 11th overall after earning a distance of 42-feet, 4.75-inches in the weight throw event.
On the women's side, sophomore
Rosalie Vincent (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) placed 2
nd overall in the women's 60m after running a time of 7.92 seconds. She also finished 2
nd in the 200m event after running a time of 26.48.
Freshman
Kiersten Lamphier (Woodhull, N.Y./Jasper-Troupsburg) placed 14
th overall in the women's 400m after running a time of 1:11.47, a personal record.
In the 500m event, sophomore
Amanda Lowenguth (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) set a personal record after placing 8
th overall with a time of 1:29.33. Freshman
Sara Edmonson (Leonardsville, N.Y./Mount Markham) also set a personal record after placing 10
th overall with a time of 1:32.22. Senior
Delaney Manahan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) set a personal record after running a time of 1:34.92 and placing 11
th overall. Freshman
Caitlin Lamphier (Woodhull, N.Y./Jasper-Troupsburg) also set a personal record after placing 12
th overall with a time of 1:37.27.

Stephanie James (Schenectady, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville/Saint Rose) and Lowenguth competed in the women's 4x400 relay, earning a 7
th place finish after running a time of 4:32.50. Sophomore
Mackenzie Ples (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville), senior
Hailey Beckwith (Stephentown, N.Y./Berlin), Lamphier and Edmonson also ran the 4x400 relay, finishing 10
th overall after running a time of 4:54.60.
Locci also competed in the women's high jump event, where she placed 2
nd overall after earning a height of 5-feet, 0.5-inches. Junior
Lilly Capria (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) placed 3
rd overall in the high jump, earning a height of 5-feet, 0.5-inches.
"I try to text the former record holders to let them know that they helped raise the standard for our teams," said Wheeless. "Tonight I texted Dr. Matthew Civilette (out on the USS Nimitz) to let him know Trevon broke his long jump record. Today was a great day to be a Dolphin."
The Dolphins are back in action next Friday as they head to Rochester, N.Y. to compete in the RIT Friday Meet #1 at the Gordon Field House.
