Hall of Fame
The first Dolphin to win medalist honors at an NCAA Regional, Dan McCarthy joins three others from the men's golf program to be elected to the Hall of Fame. A 16-time medalist over his four years on the Heights, McCarthy registered a 73.97 scoring average over 70 career rounds. His scoring average is the second-best by a Dolphin over the last 14 years and was the best until this past May. His seasonal scoring averages ranked third through sixth on the program's charts and were the top four marks until 2016. He opened his career with seven top-four finishes as a freshman, including three times claiming medalist honors. He added two more first-place finishes in the Fall of his sophomore year, when he posted a 73.8 scoring average, the third-best by a Dolphin. He captured medalist honors in six of 11 events as a junior, while adding a pair of third-place finishes. In his final collegiate season, he recorded five first-place finishes, which included topping the field at the NCAA Northeast Regional to lead the Dolphins to a first-place finish as a team and a berth in the NCAA Championships for the first time in the program's history. Since graduation, McCarthy has competed in two PGA Tour events, including the 2010 U.S. Open at the famed Pebble Beach Golf Links, and eight Web.com Tour events. In 2016, McCarthy finished the season first in the money rankings on the Mackenzie Tour to earn a spot on the Web.com Tour in 2017. He placed in the top 10 in seven of 11 Mackenzie Tour events, recording four victories, while his total earnings in 2016 marked a Tour record.
