Leadership and service…

At a time when women’s soccer competed in an open division and the competition was often Division One schools, she starred at left halfback from her first year on the Heights, setting Le Moyne’s record for most matches played.  She played with distinction, recording 14 goals and 7 assists.

The strengths of her game were an exceptional ability to read the field and distribute the ball; a seemingly effortless capacity to move the ball in traffic; and the endurance required of a midfielder.  Her coach recalls one match in particular when, as the clock wound down, she gained control deep in Le Moyne territory, broke from the pack with quick footwork, smoothly moved up field with diagonal touches, and made a blind pass to a teammate to score the winning goal.

But the quality that distinguished her most on the soccer field – and in her entire career at le Moyne – was leadership; leadership rooted in service: the heart of le Moyne College’s vision.

From projects in the Community to Campus Ministry; from a semester overseas to a mission in Appalachia; from playing trumpet in musical productions to serving as resident advisor, her mark was on the fabric of the Le Moyne Community throughout her career on the Heights.

The skills of leadership and service burnished at Le Moyne have shined at Syracuse University College of Law, in a legal career marked by extensive pro bono work, election to the post of Justice of the Peace in her hometown of Marcellus and consistent support to her alma mater.

Soccer remains central in her life.  Along with the challenges of a family and career, she has made time to cheer the Marcellus Girls team to state championships, play in a recreational league and coach youth soccer.

Le Moyne’s ideal is that leadership and service in personal and professional lives will be the mark of its graduates.  Therefore,
