Le Moyne College Athletics

A member of the College's faculty since 1987, Dr. Shawn Ward is an honorary selection to the Hall of Fame. For numerous years, he served as the College's Vice President for Student Development and had direct oversight of the athletic department. After transitioning back to a role as a faculty member in the Psychology department, Dr. Ward took over as the College's Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR), in which he serves as the liaison between the athletic department and the faculty and is member of NE10 and NCAA FAR committees. He has been an instrumental member of the athletic department and attends and contributes to all department meetings and retreats and has also provided academic support to student-athletes while traveling for NCAA Championship competition. In 2016, the College recognized Dr. Ward with the Ignatian Mission Award. Then in 2019, he received the Collegium Visionary Award, given to an individual who celebrates and advances leadership to promote Catholic mission, scholarship to advance the Catholic intellectual tradition and innovative teaching to bring aspects of the mission of Catholic higher education to life for students. During the 2021-22 academic year, he played a critical role in the development and implementation of the College's new Faculty Athletic Affiliates (FAA) program, whose focus is to make a connection, provide support and enhance the academic experience of its student-athletes by partnering a faculty member with a specific athletic team.
